Kidney Stone Analysis
There are four major types of kidney stones that we find
during analysis: metabolic, infectious, genetic, and
treatment induced. Metabolic kidney stones that are made
of calcium are the most common. The second most common
stones are associated with an infection by a urea
splitting bacteria. Genetic stones, like cystine are
very rare and are formed due to a genetic defect or
deficiency. Treatment induced stones are formed as a
result of the treatment performed on the patient.Examples of Metabolic stones listed below:
- Calcium Oxalate Monohydrate
- Calcium Oxalate Dihydrate
- Calcium Phosphate
Infectious stones examples listed below:
- Magnesium Ammonium Phosphate
- Calcium Phosphate Carbonate
Examples of Genetic stones listed below:
- Cystine
- 2,8 Hydroxyadenine
Treatment induced examples listed below:
- Tramterene (hydrochlorothiazide)
- Ammonium Acid Urate (laxatives)
- Xanthine (allopurinol)
- Other Drug Metabolites!
